Bo Bramer, Co-Founder

Bo is a senior chemical engineering student at UCI with a passion for the computational side of chemistry. Bo plans on working in the pharmaceutical and energy industries to help advance their technology using software engineering. He also enjoys running experiments in his home lab in his free time. Outside of lab work and school work, Bo is working on an application to help students visualize and interact with molecules in 3 dimensional space.

Scott Gietler, Co-Founder & Executive Director

At age 14, Scott was the youngest student in his district to ever take AP chemistry and get the highest possible score, after which he trained for the ACS International Chemistry Olympiad at the Air Force Academy two years in a row. After studying engineering at CWRU and getting a masters degree at UVA, Scott founded several successful companies, and has been on the board of directors of for 8 years. Scott’s passion for chemistry has only grown. He believes that when telling someone that your hobby, area of study, or profession is chemistry, the only acceptable response is “Wow, that is amazing!”.

Lawton Long, Co-Founder

Lawton is a senior chemical engineering student at UCI who plans to pursue his PhD in biochemical engineering with a focus on synthetic biology. He has an immense passion for chemistry and hopes to spread his love of chemistry and engineering to a wider audience. Outside of chemistry, He enjoys basketball and is frequently found in his shop where he fabricates things.

Sam Magpantay, Co-Founder

Sam is a senior at Brown University, majoring in chemistry and history. Her favorite elements from the periodic table are Lanthanum and Europium. Sam views chemistry as the world we live in and experience — as an amazing, fundamental part of the everyday. She is of the firm belief that chemistry is a subject that can be understood by anyone, regardless of their scientific background. Outside of school, Sam enjoys watching nature documentaries and visiting museums.

Ansley Pinigis

Ansley Pinigis is a senior at the University of Georgia. She is pursuing a degree in chemistry and plans on working as a chemist after she graduates. She loves chemistry because it connects other sciences. Her passion for chemistry is so strong she wants to help others discover their passion for chemistry too. Currently, she is working with a research group on sustainable nanomaterials. Sustainable chemistry is something she is passionate about, and she would love to have a career in providing more sustainability in our everyday lives. Ansley loves to hike, camp, or do anything outside with her dog in her free time.

Kali Smolinski

Kali is a rising senior at Clemson University, studying Biological Science with a toxicology emphasis. Kali previously in 2019 received an Associate’s degree in Science from SUNY Dutchess. Following graduation, Kali plans to work in medical research and complete her master’s degree. In her free time, she enjoys working out, cooking and spending time with her family in New York.

Jenny Gloyd

Jen is a senior biochemistry major at the University of Delaware. She loves to learn new things- especially if they relate to organic chemistry- and has a passion for sharing that knowledge as both a tutor and writer. When she is not in a chemistry classroom, you can find her in the choir room singing her latest repertoire.

Gordon Peiker

Originally from Seattle, Gordon is a third-year chemistry and history major at the University of California- San Diego. Gordon is hoping to pursue a PhD in atmospheric chemistry after graduation. He likes to watch Arsenal, read, and run in his spare time.

Melissa Valqui

Melissa is a junior at Boston University majoring in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry. Her favorite science is chemistry because she is fascinated by the precision needed to create specific products from the given reagents in a reaction. Melissa has loved science since middle school and her passion has only grown throughout the years; she is interested in pursuing a career in organic or forensic chemistry in the future. In her spare time, Melissa likes to cook, bake and spend time with family, friends, and her dog, Milo.

Francia Poma

Francia is a junior at New West Charter High School who hopes to become a nurse in the future. She loves learning biology and chemistry, since she finds it fun to learn about the amazing complexity of the human body and all the other creation in the universe. Francia also loves to write, which can range from articles to short stories or even poems. She often spends her time binge watching or listening to music.

Maria Alejandra Valenzuela

Alejandra is a sophomore at Georgia State University majoring in Biology. She is interested in neuroscience and bio medicine. she believes that chemistry is very important because it is part of all aspects related to science. She loves spending time with her family, music, nature, traveling, learning about new cultures, learning new languages, getting to know different points of view, learning new things, and she likes to collect quartz.

Gabriela Prostko

Gabi is a senior at Boston College majoring in chemistry, with plans to pursue scientific communication/writing after graduation. She found her passion for chemistry in its answers about how and why the world works, and aims to get the rest of the world excited about chemistry too. In her spare time, she likes to play guitar, read, and wander around NYC in search of the best coffee the city has to offer.

Christine DeRosa

Christine is originally from Boston, Massachusetts and currently a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame. She is studying Biochemistry and Applied Mathematics, with plans of going to graduate or medical school in the future. She has always loved chemistry and how satisfying solving problems can be. In her free time, Christine loves to bake, spend time with her friends and family, and relax at the beach right near her house.

Katrina Luett

Katrina Luett is a Chemist that is currently employed by Procter and Gamble—Beauty Care in Iowa City. Katrina works in the raw material lab. Her main job duties include testing all of the incoming chemicals to ensure their quality and leading method transfer efforts. Outside of work Katrina loves to hike, swim, and spend time outdoors. She and her husband Ty have two fur babies: a cat named Chloe and a dog named Carmen.

Katie Hong

Katie is from New Jersey and is currently attending the University of Rhode Island. She is in her third year of school, but first year of pharmacy school. Katie loves chemistry because she likes understanding how two things can react together and even form a new product. In her free time, she likes to bake, as it fascinates her how a chocolate cake can be made from simply mixing different ingredients together. 

Jessie Lee

Jessie is currently a first year professional student at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University. As an aspiring pharmacist, she has a passion for pharmaceutical chemistry, where chemistry plays a critical role in the drug discovery and development process. In her spare time, Jessie loves to spend time with her two cats.

Rylie Maziek

Rylie Maziek is a sophomore at Texas A&M University. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and plans to attend medical school after. She enjoys studying chemistry because it provides a comprehensive foundation for human life and medicine. In her free time, she loves to go on hikes, visit history museums, and spend time with her family in the Texas Hill Country.

Esther Choi

Esther is a sophomore at the University of Michigan, majoring in Neuroscience. She hopes to attend medical school in the future. She is fascinated by chemistry in the way that it is involved in various biological processes and in medicine. In her free time, she enjoys film, finding new music to listen to, and spending time with her family and friends.

Shreya Sangani

Shreya is a high-school freshman studying at Harold Brathwaite high school in Canada. Previously, Shreya graduated as valedictorian from a STEM-program called Sci-Tech. She believes that chemistry is a special subject to learn because it allows you to correlate quantitative, qualitative, and experimental data. In her free time, Shreya likes to play soccer and read.

Ria Madhugiri

Ria is from Houston, Texas, and is currently a high school junior at William P. Clements High school. She plans on getting her undergraduate in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. She enjoys chemistry because it is a science in which her problem-solving skills are put to test. In her free time, she enjoys baking, taking pictures, and hanging out with friends

Nafeesa Mahmood

Nafeesa is from New York City and is currently a student at Brooklyn Technical High School. She plans on studying biology and biochemistry for her undergraduate education, and is a prospective medical student. Nafeesa likes chemistry because it explains why the simplest of things work the way they do. During her free time, Nafeesa likes to listen to music and bullet journal.

Sofia Starace


Sofia is from San Carlos, California, and is currently a Junior at Carlmont High School. Her love for chemistry started at a young age while working on science experiments in the backyard with her dad. She continues to pursue her love for science by being a part of her school’s unique Biotechnology Institute. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing at the beach, baking, dancing, going on hikes, and spending time with family and friends.

Aveena Khanderia

Aveena Khanderia is a junior in high school and absolutely loves chemistry and all things science! She is interested in studying either chemistry, neuroscience, or public health in college and hopes to one day work at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in California. She can be seen directing her passion for chemistry and the sciences towards working on the final stages of her research project regarding plant communication of nutrients via mycorrhizal fungi. In her free time, you can find her buried in a good book, watching Grey’s Anatomy, or biking with her friends!

Ubaidullah Hassan

Ubaid is currently a high school senior at The Wheatley School who plans on studying chemical engineering for his undergraduate education. He spends lots of his time making videos for his YouTube channel called “Ubaid’s Lab”, where he explains chemistry and physics concepts while also doing hands on experimentation. He specifically has an interest in rocketry and testing rocket fuels. In his free time he also enjoys watching MMA and training in BJJ
